Many of you will no doubt have seen or heard of a programme on television called Dragon's Den in which business people present their ideas to a group of wealthy individuals in the hope that they can sell part of their business to those potential investors.
..............................................................................................................
The aim of their individual business opportunity presentations is to secure new money either to get the business going or alternatively to help with the costs incurred during periods of rapid growth.
The concept sums up Venture Capital very well because it is a very high risk investment indeed.
For true cases of Venture Capital the sums of money involved are usually more than £100,000 and the larger the amount involved the more choice there is in finding interested investors. Few of those investors play any active part in your business and so the risks attached to their investment are even greater.
..............................................................................................................
If your business is not in its first flush of youth ,or about to embark on rapid expansion, there are other types of funding available. For example, if there were to be a management buy-out or some other substantial need for working capital then approaches can be made to Private Equity firms, although they are also only interested in sums from £100,000 upwards.
If you feel you are in need of extra financial help for such an expansion plan, call us. We have been able to seek Venture Capital funding for many organisations over the years.
